At the personal invitation of Zaydin Magomedovich, City Farmer project lead Ekaterina Viktorovna Shikina travelled to the North Caucasus for a forum on introducing agricultural classrooms in the region.
We shared our kindergarten–school–college/university–business development model and our experience creating an AGROspace for Perm Krai students, where they encounter agricultural fields directly and learn about modern careers first-hand.
A common challenge is that students are unsure about their future careers and lack opportunities for practical experience. As Dagestan State Agrarian University rector Zaydin Magomedovich noted, self-sufficiency is increasingly important, especially in the context of import substitution. Agricultural education should develop comprehensively from an early age, rather than beginning only in higher education.

We propose introducing children to agriculture from kindergarten, building interest and demonstrating opportunities with business involvement.
In one year, we opened 13 agricultural classrooms, including those for students with special educational needs. The City Farmer kindergarten programme is already used in 21 Russian regions.
